John Higinbotham retired on July 1, 2016.
John C. Higinbotham, the once young, now nicely-ripened silver-haired sage, but still the younger (and better looking when asked) of the firm’s two co-founding Higinbotham brothers, resides in Fairmont with his wife, Jeanne Marie, and their loyal Jack Russell dog child, Pepino. He continues to be an avid golfer all across various courses of the East Coast, also having played the tremendous foes presented by the eighteen holes of Carnoustie and other formidable opponents in Scotland and Ireland.
Prior to creating his picture-perfect family unit, John received his post-graduate education in the State of Pennsylvania. He earned his undergraduate degree in Business at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster and his law degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1973. Since becoming licensed to practice law in West Virginia, John has served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Marion County. Consistent with his ongoing role as a consumer justice attorney, he is a former member of the Board of Governors of the West Virginia Association for Justice. John is also a twenty five year member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorney’s where he studied directly under internationally-famed lawyer, Gerry Spence. And yes, Gerry Spence is that good.
John is admitted to practice before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and, like his fellow Partners, one of three Higinbotham lawyers admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
