Wrecks involving big rigs have many things in common with those that involve typical car and/or truck type passenger vehicles. However, there are a few differences . . . One, the commercial vehicle is usually owned by a company, and is completely otherwise unrelated to the driver of it. Two, the insurance company for the truck is one that specializes in commercial vehicles, is located a distance from West Virginia greater than usual, and is staffed by representatives that aren’t completely familiar with the laws of our State. Those reasons alone often make it necessary to have the right lawyer in your corner . . . otherwise, negotiations often fall on deaf ears of adjusters that treat you like a claim number, not a person.
